Discussion Activity #1

  • Students will use what they’ve learned to design and conduct a poll of their own.
  • The topic should be something appropriate for the grade level of your students.
  • Use the the list of do’s and don’ts created in the previous activity as a guide to help design your poll, along with.
  • This can be done online (see sites listed below) or in person. Free Survey/Poll Building Siteshttp://www.formsite.com

  • Each person should do a trial run of their survey on their study group in the class, and then make any necessary adjustments to their polls or data collecting method before conducting their official poll.
  • Once each you have conducted your poll, analyze your results and share them with the class. In your response, provide a copy of your poll, state grade level and subject/s, briefly discuss how you collected and analyzed your data (or how your students will do this), what you thought you did well in your poll, how you might modify this lesson/poll for class, and what another way you can introduce quantitative data in your classroom. Teachers will reply to this questions under the discipline they teach.
